Extensions to houses in Holland Park Avenue, Wandsworth and Tooting
The conservatory is at a raised ground floor level while the basement room below is extended under the deck to gain light. This was built some years ago but the house in Morella Road updates the theme for 2015 and the Tooting house was completed in 2016.
The roof of this full width extension in Balham Park Road wraps around the existing building so the kitchen is lit by Veluxes as well as the folding sliding doors.
The main and extension roofs are also developed to maximise available space.
This one in Morella Road, Wandsworth is for the same client. It has a full length basement under the main house connecting through to a swimming pool under the astroturf lawn.
This double fronted house on the Heaver estate in Tooting, completed in 2016, now has over 100 square metres of basement which includes a 10m long pool.
The steel frame now supporting the house allows the sliding doors to fill an 8.0m opening while the back wall of the house is supported on the two slender columns seen in the kitchen.
The house is featured in the April 2018 edition of ’25 Beautiful Homes’ although as an interiors magazine it doesn’t mention the impressive steel structure that supports the basement and kitchen, designed by basement engineering consultant Keith Tang.
