Work on this early twentieth century building was carried out in two phases. The first one utilised the accessible attic areas to form new bedrooms along with a 4 storey tower - the half-timbered section - providing a conservatory and bedrooms.

The second phase bridged the ridges of the double roof to form a corridor, allowing more rooms to be formed on the rear and insertion of a passenger lift through 4 floors.

All of the work was carried out with 40 patients in the home.
